Rage In Silence
Rage in Silence is a series of self-portraits that confronts the heavy mental toll of the massacre that took place in Iran in January 2026. This painting, the first in the series, captures a kind of held-back intensity. The figure’s covered mouth and unmoving stare show the reality of witnessing horror while being forced into silence—as if grief, fury, and disbelief have gotten trapped inside the body.
Rather than showing the violence directly, the painting turns inward. It deals with the psychological fallout: a state where speech just collapses, but the anger remains fully present. The raw orange background amps up this tension, surrounding the figure with a feeling of heat and alarm.
The painting's unfinished quality is also crucial. It resists closure because the violence it is reacting to isn't over. For the artist, the situation remains raw and unhealed, and the incompleteness of the image reflects that continuing trauma—it is a wound that has not yet been allowed to close.
